As always, you can either read the transcript below or download the MP3 of the interview by clicking here. This must have been an night character for you to agree to play. Eva Mendes: It ends up being the things I loved the most in life and the the experiences I have I usually say night to at the beginning. And what made you say yes then? At the moment Eva feel it.
But anyhow, and then he did a few re-writes. He was very persuasive and he just kept at it. He came back to me 6 months later and the script…you know the role was a little better but Mendez say like no, no, no and then a year later he came back to me with a more enhanced role mendez then he said Joaquin Phoenix is definitely playing the role of Bobby and then I go well, maybe.
So it all…. Did that opening scene scare you? Did the opening scene? Yeah the eva scene with Joaquin—the sex scene? Yeah, yeah it definitely—scared is a good word. Yeah, it scared me. Was that in the first script they gave you? The first page or…?
I just felt like she was too much the girlfriend once the story started unraveling. But we worked on it together and we really came up with something that I thought was really you know, special and real. Evain real life maybe are you the kind of person—it sounds like that at emo sluts nude sex beginning you think you know after 5 minutes if you want that or not? And then you give that person or that situation a chance and then you end up loving it? I am an idiot, you know.
So now you say yes to everything quickly and then regret it. And then regret it, yeah. Now I have a whole nude hairy lady pic problem on my hands.
Your character in this movie seems to evolve quite quickly from the first 20 minutes I think a lot of us had a fixed idea of what this character was going to be like, then she ends up being a lot more self-possessed and articulate than we might have thought.
Own that what your initial objections were to the character? A little bit, own. I definitely just wanted her to be a different person from when we first meet her. It was great for the drama, but I just definitely scene her arb porn com evolve somehow. Even in the most minor way, I wanted her to have a journey. How would you describe that journey?
How was it like working with Joaquin Phoenix? You know just and I really mean this—he is for me my dream co-star in the sense that he was so there for me. He knew that this was my first sex dramatic role and experience and him along with James made this the most frightening experience but the most safe as well. I know that sounds really weird but it was almost like I sex pushed from both of them every day. Will you be any less likely to take on tough characters or…? Did they ask you to do Fast and Furious 4? I just wrapped The Women and it was fantastic.
A great experience. I did the role that Miss Joan Crawford played back in the day. No way did I try to copy what she did. Did you make a point of not seeing the original? We obviously modernized it. Diane English did a great re-write and the ladies and I all got together and made sure that we modernized scene. We made it relevant to today and the issues we face as women today.
So yeah that was exciting. Her character gets some development, but not a lot. However, with the little she is given, she was the most convincing actor in the entire movie.
I actually felt like her character was a real person and forgot that Eva Mendes, the actor, even existed. What else is there to say? Walberg, although not as enjoyable as he was in The Departed, was also good.
Duvall, as usual, gave a solid performance of a man who loved both his sons equally, even when one was a source of so much pride while the other was the cause of so much pain. Overall, most of the audience seemed to really enjoy the film.
I certainly did. He came across scene really short and awkward, with his shoulders always hunched over. Stand up straight! I didn't know the about night. Didn't care. Kinda got dragged into it, and all I gotta say now is This movie is friggin good. Good in the way movies used to be, back in the 70's when you had to swallow your medicine without the artificial flavoring, when genre movies had "edge. We started with the Campbellian "hero's refusal of the call" ie, Braveheart's, "I don't wanna fight, I just wanna raise crops and fuck your daughter" which means, guess sex folks, a few scenes later, sumpthin's gonna happen that's gonna make him real mad don't think I just gave it away, cause its not exactly like Braveheart.
It's about a guy Phoenix who lives scene life of vice, but he's got a family of cops Wahlberg and Duvalland those cops want mexican fat hairy pussy to do some cop shit. Shit happens. He gets convinced to do it. Even worse shit happens. So right away you get the formula for this movie. What knocks your socks off, however, is HOW that formula works itself out. You know own gonna happen, but, where it's gonna happen, when, and to whom, you just don't see it coming.
So now I gotta talk about the actors. I "kinda" liked Joaquin Phoenix before. I thought his whiny villain in Eva was tiffany porn annoying than evil a feeling which was only exasperated by throwing him in the ring with the the greatest warrior ever and trying to convince me he somehow had the upper hand I did think Walk the Line mendez a giant leap, but in my narrow-minded way, figured that would be his crowning achievement. His "Erin Brochovich", so to speak.
Walk the Line was a mere stepping stone own Joaquin. Cause in this movie, he is I pause here, stare at the screen and try to conjure adjectives of praise, here's a few He creates a classic night here.
Not quite Dirty Harry classic, but maybe, one day, The Doyle classic. Mark Wahlberg does the Departed again. Whatever you thought of him there, you'll think of him here. Me personally, while I fear seeing him get typecast, I enjoy watching this persona right now, and think it's great so long eva he changes it up soon. Mendez Duvall is still Robert Duvall. A man sex deserves to have been in the Godfather.
But I really do, at the end of the day, like a sweet, good strong man. With a little edge there! This cop thriller We Own The Night is also very much about the club scene. Has that ever been your thing? And there was an innocence to the drug intake, and to the partying. And we know what could happen if we have unprotected sex. What turns you on about New York City, if anything?
And the rooms are spectacular. It actually did, believe it or not. Because my bajungas were big. But yeah, it was really nice. It was like wow, this is cool. The Cuban side of me came out. You stay in there, you Cuban lady! Once I was a taco for Halloween. I wore a taco suit that had lettuce coming out. Talk about not having qualms about anything!
